Athletes from Across Canada
Team Canada 2017 was made up of athletes from more than 5 schools and various provinces, all working together across multiple divisions for Canada to succeed at this truly World event.
The Competition
The Canadian team won the gold medal among non-Asian teams during the dragon race standard and race contests. The Canadian lion dance team also won gold medals in the Southern lion standard and race contests during the final competition. The Northern Lion dance team had a good showing of their routine and placed first among non-Asian teams in the race division.
Team Canada was also able to compete in 2 other competitions on this trip. Taking home medals and trophies in Northern Lion routines, Southern Lion traditional, high Jongs as well as Dragon dance.
On this visit, we also competed at invitational competitions in YangZhou and HangZhou to the delight of the organizers.
